In a move that should surprise no-one, but please a great deal of people (including myself), NC Soft have finally announced that Wildstar will be going Free-2-Play later in the year!

They have published quite an extensive post detailing their plan but, as with a number of F2P games, the general idea is that there are two/three tiers of membership.

- Free: these are the most basic accounts that join the game after it goes F2P.

- Inactive "Box purchasers": If you bought Wildstar but have let your account lapse, you'll still get a few benefits like extra character slots and few restrictions on costume/bank slots and decor items.

- Signature accounts: If you maintain your subscription when the game goes F2P, you will recieve a large number of benefits and bonuses.

Also, if you are one of the few players that joined Wildstar at launch and maintain your subscription up to the F2P launch, you'll recieve a number of rewards for your loyalty.  If you missed the launch, or you are just interested in getting a few cool extras, you can subscribe before the 15th of June and still get most of the rewards.
