Batman: Arkham Knight - Patched
Posted Sep 4, 11:33 am by Naiboss

At long (long) last, the "interim" patch for Batman: Arkham Knight has finally been released. Now, after more than two months, people will actually be able to play the PC version of the game.

The featured major improvements list:

  • Reduced frame rate hitches
  • Optimizations for system memory and VRAM usage
  • Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers)
  • More Comprehensive In-Game Settings
  • Fixed low resolution texture bugs
  • Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)

But Warner Brothers also note that they are continuing to work on the following issues for future updates:

  • Adding support for SLI and Crossfire
  • Adding support for the latest DLC & Season Pass content
  • Adding support for additional updates such as Photo Mode
  • Continued improvements and bug fixing for a Windows 7 specific memory issue that occurs on configurations with 8GB of system RAM and some NVIDIA GPUs during extended game play
  • Continued improvements for Windows 10 specific issues on systems with some AMD GPUs

Initial reports suggest that the patch does make a huge difference... but has the game missed it's chance?

Personally, the game is sat waaaay down on my Steam list at the moment; what with the release of Mad Max and MGS V this week, on top of all the other games I've still yet to finish, I'm not sure I'm likely to find the time for it.

There has also been no talk of compensation for those players who have been unable to play the game.  Ubisoft gave everyone free DLC for the issues with Assassin's Creed Unity (which, by comparison, we're fixed pretty quicky).  Even EA offered a free game to Sim City players that were unable to play due to their ridiculous online DRM.... so where's Warner Brothers offering?

Time will tell...
