Atomic Heart Review
Posted Feb 22, 10:47 am by Naiboss

Atomic Heart is an first-person shooter video game developed by Mundfish. Set in an alternate reality Soviet Union in 1955, players take on the role of a Soviet KGB officer sent to investigate a secret facility, only to find it overrun by robots and mutants.

The game's alternate history setting is relatively refreshing and unique, and the attention to detail in the game's design is impressive. From the game's retro-futuristic weapons and gadgets to the creepy robotic enemies, Atomic Heart offers a fascinating world to explore.

One of the most notable features of Atomic Heart is its combat system, which is fast-paced, satisfying, and allows for a variety of playstyles. The game's RPG elements also add depth to the combat, allowing players to customize their character with a variety of abilities and upgrades.

It's difficult to avoid comparisons with the Bioshock series, in particular the last entry, Infinite, at least in terms of how the world is presented and the abilities, but Atomic Heart manages to stay just different enough. That said, it falls short of Bioshock's incredible story telling by quite a way.

The game is not without its flaws. The story can be confusing at times, and the game's difficulty spikes can be frustrating. Additionally, the game has released without raytracing, despite it being frequently featured in showcases for the feature. Not necessarily a major issue, as the game still looks great, but worth noting it's (allegedly temporary) absence.

Overall, Atomic Heart is a unique and entertaining first-person shooter that is definitely worth checking out. Its intriguing setting, satisfying combat, and impressive attention to detail make it a game that stands out.
