Rumours for it have been floating around for a while after Blizzard filed a trademark for the name Overwatch but now we know exactly what it is and have even seen some gameplay footage!
Overwatch is a dynamic, over-the-top, team-based multiplayer shooter with numerous different characters on offer. While similarities are sure to be drawn with Team Fortress 2 (in that it's a cartoon-styled team-based FPS with turrets, teleporters and healing streams), the video footage certainly demostrated that it is likely to be manic and rather different with all sorts of different abilities on offer.
The characters we have seen so far include:
Tracer: Super fast, able to teleport and, it would seem, rewind time (for herself, at least)
Symmetra: Can create portals for other players to use
Pharah: Can fly and fire rockets
Hanzo: Shoots arrows that can ricoshey off walls or reveal enemies
Reaper: Sneaky death dealer
Winston: Giant ape with anger-management issues
Torbjorn: Dwarf that can construct turrets and hand out armour buffs
Bastion: Robot that is able to turn himself into a shielded mini-gun
Mercy: Flying healer
Widowmaker: Sniper with the ability to see enemies through walls
Zenyatta: Floating robot able to shield allies
Reinhardt: Giant hammer-wielding robot able able to shield himself and others
I'm sure more details will be forthcoming... but if this carries the same level of polish as other Blizzard games, it'll certainly be something to look out for!
