It's that time of year again! While E3 hasn't technically started yet, EA have already had their own confrence, EA Play, and it had some great announcements and trailers.
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Like many others, I enjoyed the Star Wars Battlefront reboot but felt it was a little lacking. Judging by the new gameplay shown during EA Play (and played, for those that are lucky enough to be there) it certainly looks like Battlefront 2 will improve on the previous entry in every way. New types of maps; a completely new wave-based spawn system; a new points-based system for hero characters and a proper single-player campaign... but you'll probably forget all of that once you see Darth Maul in action and buy it for him alone!
On top of this, there will be no season pass! All additional content and DLC will be free!
Check out the official trailer below:
Need for Speed Payback
I personally wasn't very impressed with the last entry in the NFS series and uninstalled pretty quickly, which was a shame becasue I've got fond memories of previous games (well, some of them). If the trailers and gameplay shown at EA Play are anything to go by, Payback looks like a cross between NFS, Burnout and The Crew... in a good way of course. Let's hope they do it right this time!
Anthem
Bioware's new IP was only teased during EA Play, with more to be show during the Microsoft confrence but it certainly looks interesting so far.
A Way Out
Possibly the reveal that stole the show. From the makers of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, this new IP is a co-op only adventure that will have you playing one of two prisoners, Leo and Vincent, that are looking to break out of prison and settle a score. It certainly looks interesting but the co-op only requirement may put some off.
Battlefield 1: In the name of the Tsar
A trailer for the new Battlefield 1 expansion, due in September, was shown. This will include the addition of a playable female character from the Women's Battalion of Death.
FIFA 2018
Another year, another FIFA. A few new features and it will also be available on the Nintendo Switch!
Madden NFL 18
Madden is returning but this time with a new campaign mode called Longshot.
NBA Live 2018
Alongside FIFA and Madden, NBA was also officially revealed, complete with the announcement that there will be a demo in August.
EA/Origin Access
If you are less interested in watching trailers and would prefer to be playing games... good news... EA have made EA/Origin access free for a week!
